Hello! Sorry if this isn't the correct place for this type of question. I'm looking for tips with building my 1st bag of clubs and if I should get fitted. I'm looking to know what I should be bagging as a beginner.
My experience is very little. I went to topgolf 3 times last year with buddies for fun. Last Saturday I played my 1st round with rental clubs and decided I want my own.
I went to 2nd swing to start building my 1st bag and the guy(salesman?) said I should get fitted. Is this necessary or just something they always say to make a better sale?
I'm leaning towards doing it since I'm a bigger fella, 6'6 270lbs. He said I'll likely want longer clubs and stiff/x-stiff shafts.
This picture is a swing he had me do with a driver in some sort of simulator. He seemed confused and said I need x-stiff shaft at least for my driver. I'm sorry for the long post, I'm just trying to sort through all this info and I don't want to spend $1-2k on a full set and purchase the wrong clubs.
Any and all advice appreciated.

Lessons first then fitting
grab the kirkland irons, and find a driver, woods/hybrids on marketplace then a year from now return the kirkland irons and use that towards a fitting
Since you’re a beginner I wouldn’t buy the new clubs they try to fit you into. You can pay for a fitting at several places/stores where you get the numbers from. Take the recommendations and find something similar on FB marketplace. I got “fitted” into 790s but just took the recommendation and found almost the exact clubs on marketplace for a quarter of the price. If you don’t have a repeatable swing it doesn’t make sense spending 2k+ on a bag imo
Not for the driver you have posted on the screen. It’s only 1 shot but numbers seem completely in line with
